Friendship is magic
A very magical thing happened this week! I had a very full, accomplished week of creativity, home and self-care, amazing social interactions, where I did as much as was expected from me at work and nothing more. And then last night, Friday night, I had three nightmares with intense emotional potency, and you might be thinking "that's horrible" but it's actually very wonderful! When I have dreams with intense emotional potency, my brain is processing long-term thoughts and feelings about the world and my life and everything going on in a way that it did not have the emotional safety to do so. My beautiful week led up to this and this morning I woke up feeling safe and loved. I finally made it through some anxious and vulnerable feelings that I have had for quite some time now.
It's been a holiday party week, virtually and physically, with solstice celebrations to come. Winter is my favorite time of year, partially because I prefer the cold (I am my own personal space heater, which means I cannot stop the heat... easily unbearable in warmer months). Partially also because it tends to be a low social season for most people, and finally we're all on the same page. My energy levels don't fluctuate that much throughout the year. I used to think they did but upon further observation, I'm actually pretty steadily a hermit who prefers to stick to their routines solo.
For all the reasons that this year of seasons has sucked, there have been other reasons why it has excelled for me. It's been a year of observation and understanding, meeting babies and playing with kids, telling all of my friends that they are way better parents than they think they are, less social media and more long-form writing, accepting myself and the way that I operate, making all kinds of random shit all the time and loving it.

I went to analog holiday party night at a friend's house (no phones except to take this picture) and we painted 3D printed Pokémon and paper ornaments.
I took home my ornaments and the rejected others so I get this cool little decor 🥰

I didn't decorate much this year because I've been reorganizing many things at home and currently all of the winter stuff is tucked away and hard to reach. I was able to put out some flourishes and this mini tree.
I placed Zenny's Christmas outfit so that we can all imagine her wearing it.
